The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), under the Government of the Ministry of Railways, has approved the release of a Centralized Employment Notification for recruitment of the position of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and fill 9970 vacancies in various Zonal Railways. Interested and eligible Indian citizens who have successfully completed a minimum of Matriculation and ITI or Diploma are eligible to apply for the RRB ALP Job Opening 2025 through online mode.
Candidates who are looking for a job in the Indian Railways as an Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) must meet the required educational qualifications, age criteria, and other eligibility conditions. RRB Assistant Loco Pilot Eligibility Criteria 2025
The age limit for RRB ALP 2025 is 18 to 30 years as of 1st July 2025. Age relaxation will be given as per the rules. Interested candidates must have passed Matriculation and ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/ SCVT in the trades of Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/ Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio & TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Mechanic.
OR
Matriculation plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the above mentioned trades is also accepted.
OR
Matriculation/SSLC plus a three-year Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Automobile Engineering, or a combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognized institution in lieu of ITI.
Railway Recruitment Board Assistant Loco Pilot Selection Process 2025
The RRB ALP Vacancy 2025 Recruitment process will be made through First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-1), Second Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-2), Documents Verification (DV) and Medical Examination (ME). The selection process consists of four stages:
CBT 1 (Computer-Based Test 1) – Qualifying in nature.
CBT 2 (Computer-Based Test 2) – Shortlisting for CBAT.
CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test) – Required for final merit list.
Document Verification & Medical Examination – Final selection stage.
Indian Railway Recruitment Board Assistant Loco Pilot Application Fees 2025
Desirous candidates have to pay Rs. 500/- for General/ OBC Category Candidates. Rs. 250 (Refundable) for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Female, Transgender, Minorities or EBC Candidates. The fee should be made through Online Payment Mode (Credit Card / Debit Card / UPI / Net Banking etc.)
How to Apply for RRB ALP Job Notification 2025
Candidates can apply ONLINE ONLY from 10/April/2025 to 09/May/2025. No other mode of application will be accepted.

- Eligible Interested candidates can apply online only through RRB Ministry of Railways Online Application Portal (www.rrbapply.gov.in) from opening date.
- The Candidates must first ‘Create an Account’ for this CEN through the link given on the Official RRB Website.
- The Candidates must have an active personal mobile number and a valid email ID for receiving OTPs for Account Verification and Creation.
- After creating an account, candidates should log in to apply for RRB ALP 2025 through any one of the RRB portals.
- It is mandatory to upload a scanned copy of a recent clear color passport-size photograph, signature and other required documents.
- The Candidates are required to pay the application fee through online payment mode.
